This is probably a stupid question but wanted to get you guys thoughts and perspective.

I interviewed w/ Booth recently and it was very conversational. However, I don't think I was able to cover all my important stories and also in retrospect, I feel I may not have answered questions in the most optimal way.

How much does interview play a role in getting the acceptance? Do you guys know of people getting in after bad interviews? I'm really anxious and want to see how much did I blow up my chances by?

anon48766 Likes Earned: 1 First off, I interviewed at Booth last week and I feel pretty much the same way-- I missed some opportunities that I'm kicking myself for, so you're not alone. People can answer your question any number of ways but here's the truth-- no one can tell you how the interview is going to impact you. Maybe the adcom is completely sold on your application and the interview was just a formality, no matter how it went. Maybe they are going to give the interview a fair amount of weight. I would just say that, either way, the interview is just one part of your application, which they've already demonstrated real interest in. Remember what we are often our own worst critics as well :) (0)

anon26682 Likes Earned: 0 I'd second the above. I interviewed recently and felt some portions went well and others were okay. Not awful but definitely not great either. This is purely a guess but I've been evaluating interviews as pass/fail. If it went terribly and you get a bad review, I'd assume that hurts quite a bit regardless of everything else. If it went okay, it won't help or hurt all that much. And even if it went as well as it could have, I don't think that's the final dealbreaker. This is only an assumption but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. It's done and you can't change anything at this point. (0)

anon36182 Likes Earned: 0 had a similar experience. gave myself a C. i believe the interview is critical. everyone invited to interview is essential on even ground and can set themselves up for the win if you show true connection to program and students, hence second year interviewer. just my opinion. Hopefully we all get good news next month. (0)

anon17684 Likes Earned: 1 As someone who got in in round 1. I think the interview is as important as the application albeit it serves more to validate the impressions Adcom has from the app. Nonetheless, unless you really messed up, you shouldn’t worry too much. (0)

anon92393 Likes Earned: 0 Same here, interviewed last week at Booth. It was my very first interview of this season (mba reapplicant, but first timer at Booth), and frankly I have no idea how it actually went because I was extremely nervous and was running on 30m of sleep from the previous night. I loved my interviewer, but left the campus feeling exactly the way you described in your original post. If anything, my interviewer immediately responded to my thank you note so it felt a little bit better, but going through 2 other interviews right after made me realize I could've done way better at Booth. Certainly more stories, clearer goals, better conclusions for the behavioural Qs... but hey, let's all keep in mind that we already made it half-way through by getting invited to these interviews! We are new to this type of interviews and so were the interviewers when they were in our shoes. As long as your personality shined through and it matches with the school's 'fit,' I am sure we have all the reasons to believe that we have a shot here! Best of luck to you all. (0)

anon71409 Likes Earned: 0 I would really not be too anxious, but I completely empathize - I applied and got in Round 1 and trust me when I say that I spent a ridiculous amount of time worrying about how I messed up my interview and could have answered better (for Booth and for other schools). Like some others have commented on this thread, the interview is not the deciding factor. Unless you did so amazingly that you blew your interviewer's mind, or you managed to completely screw up (by this I mean something really, extremely screw up), it really won't make or break your chances. Though it seems impossible, try not to stress too much about it and definitely be proud of yourself for being selected to interview at one of the top schools in the world! I wish you the very best. One thing I'm sure after seeing all you respond, Booth did a great job in inviting a great bunch of supportive people (secret sauce, ha!).
