Accepted today. would like to do IB and debating if should consider UNC KFBS. They have less # students going to IB and cornell has lot many. Chapel hill, I can avoid snow and have apt already. Cornell seems to have bigger brand. Any suggestions?

anon67935 Likes Earned: 16 Follow your heart not the brand or rankings!!! UNC is a great school so it will probably give you the same opportunities in IB. Several years after graduation it wouldn't matter much where you went to school but how much you have grown and the path you have made for yourself. Where do you want to work post-graduation? As far as weather goes, one of my friends who is at Cornell in a different graduate program said it is pretty much very cold more than half of the year and winter goes through April. She is from the South, she hates the weather and she feels pretty depressed. Go where you feel you will be happier and more productive! Good luck with your choice! (0)

anon11959 Likes Earned: 0 thank you @anon67935. You are right. I am not sure where to work after post doc but i am not a fan on snow. i would like bay area ideally though it is very expensive. I really appreciate your feedback on this. i am from south as well @anon13624 : I was interviewed in jan end ( i believe) and i went one for school visit and then another time for in-person interview bcoz for me i am better at in-person. my score was little low so i completed math for mgmt from uc berkely and then mbamath as well. meanwhile i also kept them posted on my work and community/alumni involvement through my alma mater. hope helps ! anon29029 Likes Earned: 118 Agree that the difference between UNC and Cornell is marginal. Keep in mind that UNC places VERY well in finance and IB. Several of their grads go to NYC and UNC also owns Charlotte IB. They both have 280 students and are more alike than different. I would choose UNC here. Chapel Hill is also an amazing town with great weather, Tar Heel school spirit, and a very very solid brand. You will not be at a disadvantage by going to UNC. (0)

Cornell has a great IB immersion program and sends more than twice as many students into IB than UNC does (based on 2018 employment reports). That said, if you're interested in staying in the southeast UNC could make sense. (1)

anon29029 Likes Earned: 118 That’s most likely because most of the students are Cornell aim specifically for IB whereas interested at KF is more varied between finance, consulting, tech and real estate. It’s based on the interests of the students. You can certainly get into IB from UNC if that’s what you want to do. Difference is marginal (0)

anon42316 Likes Earned: 0 I agree with consensus. UNC still has a strong IB program, and if you prefer the warmer weather, it will probably make you more happy during your time in school. UNC can get you into the same banks Cornell can (0)

anon12901 Likes Earned: 5 If you are open to the possibility of IB in the south, UNC will get you there (if NYC doesn't work out). Cornell is slightly stronger but hard to know if the hassle of everything and the less than ideal living situation outweighs this. (0)
