Academics

Faculty

Goizueta has nearly 120 faculty members who teach courses across five departments: accounting, finance, marketing, organization & management, and information systems & operation management. Students are given an intimate academic experience with a 5:1 student to faculty ratio. In addition to holding advanced degrees, many faculty members at Goizueta have practical business expertise through consulting, executive and entrepreneurial work histories.

Curriculum

The academic year is broken into two semesters, which last about 16 weeks each. Fall semester classes generally begin in late August and end by mid-December. Classes resume for the spring semester in mid-January and conclude in late April. Prior to starting classes in the fall, all students participate in Onboarding, a series of pre-term exercises and events including community service and social activities. Students also take a Leader’s Reaction Course at the Fort Moore US Army base where students collaborate in a variety of hands-on leadership-building activities.

Goizueta full-time MBA students complete 11 core courses in the first semester. These courses cover fundamentals in finance, marketing, professional communications, economics, management practice, and related fields. Once core requirements are met, students are then given the opportunity to take elective courses to round out and deepen their education. Two-year MBA students have the opportunity to pursue any of more than 20 concentrations, which all fit within the school’s five primary academic areas. First-year students also take part in Goizueta IMPACT, a real-world consulting project for a local business in Atlanta. First-year students are assigned to a team with two to five other students, work with faculty throughout the year and finally make recommendations to client and faculty panels. Some past clients have included Coca-Cola, The Home Depot, King’s Hawaiian, and Porsche.

Many Goizueta full-time MBA students also take advantage of the program’s international mid-semester module, where students can pursue internships or special projects during the spring semester in sites across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Other MBA Degree Options

In addition to the two-year MBA, there is also the option to enroll in the accelerated One-Year MBA program. Within 12 months, students complete three semesters of courses as well as a Goizueta IMPACT project. They can choose from more than 20 concentrations and have the same access to electives as the Two-Year MBA students. For working professionals, Goizueta also offers a part-time Evening MBA, which takes 24–32 months to complete, with the option to extend the program for up to six years. Classes meet two weeknights per week; students have access to over 15 subjects of interest and also have the option for a global immersion. For the Executive MBA program, Goizueta offers on-campus, hybrid, and online formats The Executive MBA takes 18 months to complete; students taking the on-campus format have classes meet every other Friday and Saturday. Core courses span the first three semesters, and then electives are taken during the final two semesters.
