Faculty

Goizueta has 96 faculty members who teach courses across five departments: accounting, finance, marketing, organization and management, and information systems & operation management. Students are given an intimate academic experience with a 5:1 faculty to student ratio. In addition to holding advanced degrees, many faculty members at Goizueta have practical business expertise through consulting, executive and entrepreneurial work histories.

Curriculum

The academic year is broken into two semesters, which last 14 weeks each. Fall semester classes generally begin in late August and end by late November. Classes resume for the Spring semester in mid-January and conclude in late April.  Prior to starting classes in the Fall, all students participate in Keystone, a series of pre-term exercises and events including community service and social activities.

Goizueta Full-Time MBA students complete nine core courses in the first semester. These courses cover fundamentals in finance, marketing, professional communications, economics, management practice, and related fields. Once core requirements are met, students are then given the opportunity to take 14 elective courses to round out and deepen their education.  Two-year MBA students have the opportunity to pursue any of 25 concentrations, which all fit within the school’s five primary academic areas.  Also during the first semester, students participate in the Goizueta Leadership Development Program to learn how to be an effective team member.  First-year students also take part in Goizueta IMPACT, a real-world consulting project for a local business in Atlanta.  First-year students are assigned to a team with two to five other students, work with faculty throughout the year and finally make recommendations to client and faculty panels.  Some past clients have included the American Cancer Society, Beats by Dr. Dre, UPS and WebMD.

More than 80% of Goizueta Full-Time MBA students also take advantage of the program’s international mid-semester module, where students can pursue internships or special projects during the spring semester in sites across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.  In 2017, students had the options to visit China, Colombia, India, Nicaragua, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Other MBA Degree Options

In addition to the Two-Year MBA, there is also the option to enroll in the accelerated One-Year MBA program. Within 12 months, students complete three semesters of courses as well as a Goizueta IMPACT project. They have the option of 15 concentrations, and the same access to electives as the Two-Year MBA students. For working professionals, Goizueta also offers a part-time Evening MBA, which takes 24-32 months to complete.  Classes meet two weeknights per week; students have access to over 20 concentrations and also have the option for a global immersion.  For Executives, Goizueta offers a Weekend MBA as well as a Modular one.  The Weekend MBA for Executives takes 15.5 to 19.5 months to complete; classes meet every other Friday and Saturday for the first three semesters, and then evening and weekend electives during the final two semesters.  The Modular MBA for Executives takes place over the course of 19 months and includes eight weeklong on-campus residences, in addition to classroom and distance learning.
