Yale SOM MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / On-Campus

Invited to interview in person at Evans Hall. The day began with a tour of the facilities with all the applicants assigned their own interview timeslot. As the day went on people made their way to the lounge where they were then invited into one of a number of interview rooms. Interview was not super personal as the interviewer, a second-year student, had their head down the entire time taking notes on a standardized template. Was surprised that it was not conducted by an adcom. Mixture of questions on the resume as well as experiences that I wanted to bring up that might be off-resume.

“Tell me about a time you were faced with a challenge.”
“How will you contribute to the diversity at Yale SOM?” (Dean Charles quote)
“Why Yale SOM particularly, how will the school help you achieve your goals?”

In total the interview was 35 minutes as we went 5 minutes over the allotted time, and I got to ask two questions.
