I want to pivot functions in my industry and move into organizational strategy. I don't come from a business background, so I'm looking to enhance my management skills and learn how to problem solve from a more human-centered perspective. I started my career in an extremely technical role but have been in an integration role for the last 1.5 years where I manage schedule/budgets and delegate tasks. Through my move from a technical role to an integration role, I've learned that I'm energized by getting to solve business problems and figuring out ways to best support those around me. In undergrad, I was heavily involved in clubs and held multiple leadership roles in those clubs. Since graduating, I've taken on both formal and informal mentorship roles, mentoring new hires, college students, and high school students.

mushroo4258 Likes Earned: 17 Hi Alex, thanks so much for taking the time to comment and for your feedback! The answers to your questions seemed too long to include in the initial notes, so I left them out. ECs outside of work are my biggest concern. During my first few years of working, I was also completing a MS in Engineering part time, so a lot of my time was dedicated to doing well in my Masters and performing well at work. Ended up finishing my masters at the peak of the pandemic, so it was difficult to pick up activities at that time. Since then, I've become more active in the APPI group at work and have recently taken on the role as Business Impact lead. I've also been volunteering on and off at a local food bank over the last 2 years, but I'm not sure that there's much more to talk about there; I've just found that it's a good way for me to decompress from work/applications. mushroo4258 Likes Earned: 17 Short term goal is to work in consulting so that I'm able to get exposure to a wider range of industries and have the opportunity to work towards solving different problems. Long term, I'd like to return to the A&D industry in organizational strategy with a focus on DEI; this decision was motivated by the high attrition rates of young people that I've been seeing across the industry. mushroo4258 Likes Earned: 17 I've lived in LA for the last 10 years, so while I eventually want to return, I'm really looking for a different environment for the 2 years I'm pursuing the MBA. Otherwise, I would've considered applying. I toured the Anderson campus and could really see how much the students valued and enjoyed their experience there. The main deterrence for GSB for me was the low admission rates but based on the feedback I've gotten recently, I'm reconsidering that decision and thinking about applying for R2 because I think that at this point, it might be too late for me to put as much work as I'd like to for R1.
