Just dinged by HBS with no interview, so I’m super nervous now. I’m a physicist working in a geospatial intelligence squadron. Currently second in command of a flight of 50 people that does work similar to business analytics. Also been the president of a professional development organization of 250+ officers. I have a STEM degree, and my gpa is split between two schools: 3.76 at a community college and 3.02 at a public ivy. I have some other cool work experiences and I’ve taken a course through MIT Sloan executive education on AI Implications for business strategy. Looking to do corporate strategy for a cool tech company in the long term, and consulting may be the bridge to that. I have one impressive award as well (Distinguished graduate of my training for my career field). I’ve seen plenty of military people on the podcast, but none with a profile like mine, so I’d love to be featured on the podcast! I’ve been listening for a year, and I love the podcast.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1577 Sorry about HBS, but this doesn’t mean you won’t be at a top program. The GPA at the public Ivy May have raised questions? But it does sound like your work is super analytical. Decent GRE also helps. Have you applied to all these programs in Round 1? Might also consider Wharton and Kellogg? (1)

bejatey Likes Earned: 2 Thanks for the reassurance! I think you’re right; the GPA in my last two years at the public ivy is the weakest part of my application. That GPA comes from mostly upper-level physics and math classes, and I had to take some classes without taking the prerequisites so I could graduate early (because I was paying for school myself). My work is definitely analytical. Broadly, I work in scientific and technical intelligence, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on some really neat projects, including setting up a partnership with A big university (think cal tech, or MIT) to increase our capabilities in AI. Yes, I’ve applied to all these schools in round 1. If things don’t go well this round, I definitely plan on applying to Wharton and Kellogg in round 2. For additional context, my gre is a 160Q, 169V, so I’m worried that my quant score may cause some worry, as well. (0)
