Notes:

Looking for advice on how to improve my profile before applying in fall of 2023. BS in chemical engineering and economics, 1 year as a product management intern and 3 years of professional experience as a chemical engineer in the manufacturing sector. My main extracurricular is as a mentor for underprivileged high schoolers, but not a well defined leadership role. My most serious concerns in my profile include conveying leadership and interpersonal skills since my work is fairly technical. I plan to focus my essays and resume on those aspects, but I'm looking for advice about other schools to apply to and how to best build up my profile in the next 18 months. My goal after MBA is to move to operations or strategy consulting in Seattle/Denver.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1577 Are you applying for next season? I would add Kellogg and Wharton to your list of target programs. Your numbers are great. Chem E is generally considered a tough major. I would really try to push for some leadership at work, even on a project basis, if possible. Mf experience can be very strong. Same as outside of work, push your impact. There’s potentially a lot to like here. (0)

I'd spend some serious time thinking about your career plans and where they will lead in the long-term...and even how they might relate to what you have seen to date in your work experience. I'd also push for leadership opportunities at both work and in your ECs/hobbies. I agree with Alex that you can likely afford to aim pretty high and that a couple more M7s on the list would be smart for R1... Thanks for sharing your profile and best of luck!
