Notes:

I'm really split between KF and GBS. Though my plan is to go into consulting post-MBA (doesn't have to be MBB), I am open to changing my mind and am not dead-set on it. I love Emory's program and people but I don't know that I want to end up in Atlanta long-term. KF seems to be more balanced in terms of post-MBA locations and sectors.

anon17670 Likes Earned: 318 Congratulations on your admissions to Goizueta and KF. Based on your post-MBA goal, Goizueta is stronger for consulting Tier 2/3, and placement is not limited to Atlanta but the South. KF is also a strong program but their placement in finance is much greater than Consulting. I think Goizueta has a lot more to offer, and you mentioned you love the program, and also their culture. Also, considering the COA + Scholarship offer, attending Goizueta will be at a lower cost financially. However, if you can draw up a list of pros and cons for both programs, this will help your decision-making easier. Both great options but for strategy, Goizueta has an edge over KF, even if KF is a tier higher in ranking. (3)

I agree with anon17670. Given that you love Emory and you have a large scholarship, it sounds like Goizueta is the right program for you. Sometimes need to evaluate if placement locations are because a school only has connections there or because it's a natural fit because of where the school is. In Goizuetta's case ATL is natural given proximity and a large business center, while UNC with Raleigh-Durham is less so, with various industries which may cause the class to spread out to different cities. Does not mean you couldn't network to other locations in the South (Texas/MIA) or elsewhere. (1)

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment: 1. it would be helpful to know the size of the scholarship on offer, and whether or not you have asked UNC for any funds as a result. 2. the consulting track in the UNC KF curriculum is highly regarded by employers, so certainly something to keep in mind. 3. UNC does seem to have a broader geographic distribution of MBA graduates...

anon29029 Likes Earned: 118 I was between the same 2 schools for consulting and chose KF for a few reasons. Yes Emory places well in consulting, but most are going to atlanta, nearly 60% of their grads are in ATL. UNC is far more geographically dispersed. I am heading to NYC for consulting for example. Atlanta is nice but its a city, UNC is a historic college town next to a medium (and growing city) in Raleigh. You get the best of both worlds. UNC campus is absolutely breathtaking and more beautiful than Emory. But also a ton to do in Chapel Hill and surrounding areas. Lastly, its always good to have a plan B and I felt UNC had much more options in this regard. They have grads going to Finance, Consulting, Healthcare, RE and more all over the place and it was a safer bet for me. Consulting ops will both be same on both places since they all come one campus. I think McKinsey is geared more to UNC though + all the tier 2. Emory was also just too small a program. I think they have like 130 or something vs a better size class at UNC. Emory's ranking was 21 when I applied in 2019 and is now 26 so not sure what is going on there either. Both great programs though! (3)
