I have already accepted offer and paid 2 deposits to another school when I heard from Booth today. I am beyond ecstatic about this offer but at the same time, I feel emotionally and financially committed to my first offer. Help....

anon71838 Likes Earned: 9 OP here- the other school isn't an M7 but is an Ivy League school for prestige. I am a little conflicted because Booth was my first choice but I've been put on hold until now when I've already got my housing and other things figured out with my first offer. (4)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 760 Maybe > DecisionWire. Any $/scholarships considerations to factor? Maybe emotionally invested and deposited at another, but if Booth is going to lead to a better overall outcome a few thousand of deposits sacrificed is small in big picture. (3)

anon34460 Likes Earned: 7 IMO, you should DEFINITELY go for Booth. It's a one-time opportunity. The financial deposits that you have made up until now might not even count if you think of long-term. But the Booth experience, tag, and network will remain intact perpetually. (6)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1145 I'd post this over on DecisionWire and let folks weigh in there with all of the information. Do you know where you'd like to be post-MBA, geographically? Canada? NYC? SF? Chicago? As another commenter suggested, have you stacked up the consulting stats across the two schools in question? Is there money involved (beyond the lost deposit)? The Ivy schools that aren't M7 are Yale, Cornell, and Tuck, so depending on your career plan, geographic preferences, and cultural fit, perhaps a case could be made...but it's hard to make one without all the details specific to your situation. anon36135 Likes Earned: 47 Unless you want to build a family in Chicago, you may be better off long-term with Yale SOM/Dartmouth stuck/Cornell Johnson. The MBB opportunities are the same you’d get at Booth or any T15, just the Ivy League MBA students are gunning for the most competitive seats in NYC vs. filing through a cattle chute into McKinsey’s factory in Chicago. Nobody outside of Chicago natives and MBB die hards wants these jobs — even with the lower cost of living — because it’s cold and dangerous!!! Booth is excellent if you want MBB even if it means the Chicago office. Outside of Chicago, the Booth network is small and the recognition of the Ivy brand is vastly stronger. There is a reason Booth loses on cross-admits to the other M7+Haas and has Tuck/SOM/Johnson nipping at its heels. Booth’s scholarship fund can only do so much to cushion the school’s lack of brand, dangerous location far-removed from S.F./NYC, horrific weather and reputation for weirdo students! Central Park ‘Karen’ Amy Cooper is their most famous alum! (2)

anon71838 Likes Earned: 9 OP here- the other school was generous enough to offer me scholarship once I broke the news to them. However, after much consideration, I decided to give up scholarship to attend booth. Reason being- booth's consulting stats are just higher. Booth has dedicated HR teams at MBB firms and they will give me my best chance to break into consulting. Not to mention if I were to go with my backup plan which is investment management, Booth has strong alum at IM firms and that will truly help me in my career progression. (1)
