anon15681 Likes Earned: 4 I think they were hoping you would focus more on the “field of extraordinarily talented candidates” part... I don’t think they were trying to “brutally” imply that you’re not a top candidate. When the acceptance rate is 12% and you are competing against the best... some amazing candidates will have to be rejected. I think that was their intention. I wouldn’t take it as a hit to your quality as a candidate. (0)

anon10083 Likes Earned: 0 Harvard rejection letter states that you're a good enough candidate, and the reason why they can't admit you is that they need to allocate the class profile. (Though it's not the real reason but you feel better...) MIT rejection letter is brutally honest: you're not good enough! There's no right or wrong but this somehow reflects the schools' culture... By someone who got rejected by both schools...lol (0)
