Yale SOM MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 1 / 2nd year student / on campus

I was invited to interview 4 weeks ago and made the trip to New Haven. I was interviewed by a second year student and they were very nice, but i would say that the interview was very pointed and was not the most easy to answer. They clearly had questions to ask and the interviewer looked at his watch every 5 minutes. He told me it would be 25 minutes of questions followed by 5 minutes for my questions. I am surprised more people have not put their interview experience and that i am only the second from this year. The questions are below (deciphered as they were worded awkward by the interviewer), and hopefully you can be better prepared than i was. I am still waiting to hear back.

  1. Walk me through your resume
  2. Why SOM
  3. What excites you about the campus and school clubs
  4. When have you had to lead a team in a difficult situation
  5. What will you bring to the community, followed by how will you make it better
  6. Why an MBA now, ( i am a career changer)
  7. What would you do if you were struggling in a class and needed help
  8. What students have you talked to and what efforts have you made to learn more about SOM

There was no feedback given, just a “good luck”
