Interview was held at Goldman Sachs in NYC as part of an interview day. Met with an alumni from the class of 2005. He was a one year student, but was able to answer all my questions about the two year program. Nice guy, conversational, wrote a lot while I was talking, but he did make the effort to glance up and look at me from time to time.
Most of the questions he asked are already in here. Standard walk me through your resume, tell me about teamwork experiences, leadership experiences in and out of work/school, what have you done recently outside of work, why MBA/Kellogg/now, weakness in application and what will/have you done about it.
There were a couple questions I wasn’t quite prepared for, though it wasn’t because they weren’t listed in here. First was tell me about an obstacle you faced as part of a team and how you helped overcome it. Then was tell me three things that are unique about you. And tell me three things you would want me to tell the admissions committee if they asked about you.
One thing, though, the email said once you went through security to follow the signs and go to the 30th floor. On the way into the building, I saw a sign that said 31C1, so I went to the 31st floor. There was no one there when I got off the elevator so I went down to the 30th floor. Once there, I was directed to a room that happened to be for the alums! They told me to go back up to the 31st floor. There was still no one there, so I wandered until I found the right room. In the room, they had set up some beverages and other applicants were just sitting around, but there was no official Kellogg person to greet you. About 10 minutes later, one of the alums came in to call someone in. Finally, someone came in to collect resumes of people who had recently arrived, then he walked out again. On the way out of my interview, I noticed someone else had been placed in the lobby of the 31st floor. Not the most efficient process. But sure and give yourself plenty of time to figure out where to go!
