Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 Depends on the consulting job you want. Are the odds higher at NYU vs Georgetown? GT typically goes govt jobs whereas NYU gets more varied consulting roles in better cities. Something to think about. (0)

As someone who previously worked in government consulting and now in commercial consulting, it is really tough making that transition. It took a lot of work. Your MBA should set you up for what you want to do, not place you somewhere you do not want to be. (0)

go with your gut Likes Earned: 0 clearly not a popular opinion here but I would say 1) go with your gut, and 2) if not having $100,000 in debt will give you the flexibility to pursue what you truly want to do, live where you want to live, etc., I think that's a valid consideration. I generally find people on this forum are much more dismissive of debt than I would be (different strokes). Everyone's situation is different and there's something to be said for the differential value of degrees, but it's ok to go to a school to avoid debt. Georgetown is a strong program. (0)

@ClearAdmit Likes Earned: 0 Congrats on making the cut at Stern and McDonough - and on landing the $100K via CGSM! It's clear from the discussion here that folks in this forum are leaning heavily towards Stern - and we absolutely understand why that would be the case (higher rank/different tier, stronger placements). At the same time, we understand why you are hesitating... Georgetown is clearly a program that has been making major strides over the past few years, and it's arguably the only game in town in a major US market (DC), with a great campus, etc. And then there's the money (and the prestige of earning a scholarship) which one cannot ignore in this instance (and is likely your primary reason for leaning the way you are leaning). At the end of the day, this may also come down to what sort of consulting career you are envisioning? MBB? Something else? Government consulting? Industry? I strongly recommend that you explain your goals to the head of career services at each program and see what they think. Best of luck with this tough decision... (0)

Gtown (I went there for undergrad) is a few tiers lower and doesn't have strong placement, unless you want to work for EY, KPMG or Deloitte with Government contract consulting (people evade those like the plague). Stern is a powerhouse in terms of career placement and brand, worth more than 100k (0)
