The class profile has been released for the UCLA Anderson School of Management MBA Class of 2027, highlighting the strengths and potential of the incoming cohort.

For the second year in a row, the school received over 3,000 applications. This year’s class numbers 307 students. Women make up 46 percent of the class, which is a three percent increase over last year. Based on federal guidelines, 66 percent identify as U.S. minorities, a nine percent increase over the Class of 2026. Thirty-one percent of U.S. citizens and permanent residents are Asian American. Nineteen percent identify as Hispanic and 16 percent as Black/African American.

Thirty-five percent of the new class are international students, a six percent drop from last year. Nine percent are members of the LGBTQ+ community. Military veterans and active duty armed forces members make up four percent of the class.

Undergraduate Experience

With an average undergraduate GPA of 3.5, the incoming MBA class maintains Anderson’s high standard of academic excellence. The mean GMAT score (10th Edition) came in at 703, a few points below last year, but the middle 80 percent range remained unchanged. The average combined GRE score is 325, with the Verbal at 162 and the Quant at 163.

The distribution of undergraduate majors is largely the same as last year. Business majors are again the largest group of incoming MBAs, representing 30 percent of the class. Engineering students make up 22 percent, humanities and social science majors 21 percent, and economics majors 13 percent. Just six percent of students majored in biological and physical sciences.

Professional Background

The Class of 2027 comes from a variety of industries and holds an average of 5.6 years of work experience. Eighty-four percent of students are in the program with the goal of switching careers. Technology professionals make up 20 percent of the class while 19 percent came from a finance industry background. Nine percent hailed from the consulting industry, and the same percentage had worked in the government, education, and impact sectors.
