UNC Kenan-Flagler Welcomes Seven New Professors

To kick off the 2017-2018 academic year, the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School welcomed seven new faculty members. Each new faculty member is known for his or her thought leadership, research, and excellence in teaching.

Yunzhi Hu

Finance Professor Yunzhi Hu studies financial intermediation, macro finance, and corporate finance. His research and work delves into economic recoveries patterns, particularly in regards to bank lending standards and entrepreneur entry. Hu earned his PhD in financial economics from Chicago Booth.

Kristopher Keller

Marketing Professor Kristopher Kelly has expertise in private label marketing, retailing, branding, marketing-mix effectiveness, and innovation. As for his work, he is the founder of a jewelry retail store chain in Frankfurt, Germany. Keller earned his PhD from Tilburg University.

Jeffrey Kuhn

Jeffrey Kuhn is a new strategy and entrepreneurship professor with a focus on technological innovation, intellectual property, corporate strategy, and entrepreneurship. His work also includes research into the patent system, which makes sense considering his history as a U.S. patent attorney. Kuhn is currently completing his PhD at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.

William Maddux

Organizational Behavior Professor William Maddux focuses mainly on the area of cultural psychology, particularly looking at how multicultural experiences affect a range of psychological processes important for organizations. Previously, he spent the last 11 years as a faculty member at INSEAD in France.

Timothy Ott

Timothy Ott is a strategy and entrepreneurship professor who has expertise in strategic decision-making, entrepreneurial strategy, and organizational learning. Ott is currently working on his PhD at Stanford University.

Daniel Ringel

Dan Ringel is a new marketing professor and quantitative modeler. His interests include managerial insights in large markets as well as competitive analysis, visualization, and clustering methods. He earned a PhD in marketing from Goethe-University Frankfurt and spent more than 10 years in management consulting.

Ozul Sezer

Organizational Behavior Professor Ozul Sezer has research about “humblebragging” featured in the Washington Post, Business Insider, Forbes, the Atlantic, and the Boston Globe. Her research interests include self-presentation and how people manage impressions of others. Sezer has a PhD from Harvard Business School.
