The following Vanderbilt / Owen MBA interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant. Good luck to them!

I interviewed with the Associate Admissions Director. He had his laptop in front of him to reference my resume and take notes while we were talking.

He started by telling me about himself then dove right into interview questions:

  1. Tell me about yourself.
  2. Why an MBA? Why now? Why Owen?
  3. Tell me about a time you led a team that had a positive outcome?
  4. Tell me about a time you led a team that had a negative outcome?
  5. What are one or two of your areas for growth?
  6. Pretend I am an employer and you are interviewing for a job. Give me your 60-second pitch on why I should hire you.
  7. What clubs are you interested in joining at Owen?
  8. What other schools are you applying to and why?
  9. What are you most proud of and why?

He then let me ask him a few questions. Overall, it was very straightforward except for the the 60-second elevator pitch. However, I was prepared for this question (thanks to the interview reports here on Clear Admit!), and my interviewer even laughed and said after I responded that he usually has to tell applicants that it’s ok that they messed up the answer to that one because it usually catches people off guard. So read these interview reports – they are valuable!

Besides that, it was very conversational and enjoyable.
