Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business has announced that its top-ranked M.S. in Business Analytics (MSBA) program is now available for study in a full-time, on-campus format in Washington, D.C. The program has previously been available in an online, part-time format only; the full-time launch extends its reach and builds on its success.
Expanding the program into a full-time format “ensures more students gain access to a cutting-edge analytics education and the opportunity to make an immediate impact in their careers,” said Nita Swinsick, Associate Dean for Graduate and Executive Degree Programs Admissions. Michael O’Leary, Senior Associate Dean of Graduate and Executive Degree Programs, added that the move “underscores Georgetown McDonough’s commitment to analytics, AI, and preparing students for the future of business.”
The program meets a growing need for business leaders who are able to “strategically and responsibly” apply AI and machine learning knowledge to “solve complex business challenges and lead organizations into the future,” says Babak Zafari, Academic Director of the MSBA program. “AI is no longer an emerging trend – it is a central force reshaping every industry.”
Curriculum, Cohort, and Careers
Over its 10-month curriculum, the MSBA equips students with the advanced technical expertise necessary for understanding this “central force.” It does so via a combined concentration on business strategy, leadership development, and data analytics, training students to turn data into impactful decisions by diving into data visualization, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The program also challenges students to work with a local, national, or global sponsor to solve a real-world business analytics problem in an immersive final capstone project.
Throughout the program, students can collaborate with major players in the industry, such as Amazon Web Services, for experiential learning opportunities.
A wide range of students are drawn to this program, applying from professional backgrounds including consulting, tech, financial services, energy, healthcare, nonprofits and more. While offering the same close-knit cohorts, industry connections, and experiential learning as the part-time course, the in-person, on-campus option offers students a faster and more immersive route to data-driven business leadership.
Students in the full-time MSBA will benefit from the same exceptional career services as those on their part-time predecessor. The McDonough Career Center offers each student support with resume writing and interview preparation, career workshops, individualized career coaching, access to mentorship through a global alumni network, career assessments, and more. The comprehensive approach to career support has long yielded results for the part-time, online program, with the Class of 2024 achieving an average base salary of $123,250 – a 30% average increase from their pre-MBA compensation.
These excellent career outcomes are likely to be echoed in the full-time, on-campus program because Christy Murray, Associate Dean and Managing Director of the McDonough Career Center, says they reflect “the strong demand for data-driven decision makers and the value that Georgetown MSBA students bring to these industries.”
Students who opt for the on-campus version of the MSBA may switch to the part-time option should their circumstances change. Learn more about the full-time M.S. in Business Analytics (MSBA) and how to apply.
