Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I decided to pursue business school because I want to strengthen my leadership and strategic thinking skills to prepare for a career in marketing and HR. My undergraduate experiences, working in marketing and HR across industries, managing campaigns, and leading projects, gave me a strong foundation and showed me the importance of combining strategy, creativity, and analysis to drive results, which I want to deepen through an MBA.
Now is the right time because I have recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree and gained meaningful professional experience through internships and work positions. I feel ready to take the next step in my education, expand my network, and position myself for leadership opportunities early in my career. Business school will allow me to grow in both marketing and HR while developing the analytical, strategic, and management skills I need for long-term success.
Why did you choose Michigan State Broad College of Business? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
I chose Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business because of its strong focus on developing strategic, analytical, and leadership skills that align with my career goals in marketing and HR. The program’s emphasis on real-world experience, experiential learning opportunities, and access to a collaborative network of students and alumni stood out to me. I was particularly drawn to Broad’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, which creates a supportive and dynamic environment where students from different backgrounds can learn from each other. I believe this inclusive community, combined with rigorous academics and practical applications, will allow me to deepen my expertise in marketing while also building the HR skills I need to succeed in dynamic business environments.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
I believe my most valuable contribution to the Class of 2027 is the perspective I bring as a Muslim woman navigating the business world. Through my experiences in marketing and HR, I have learned to balance creativity with strategic thinking and practical problem-solving. I enjoy collaborating with others, sharing ideas, and helping teams succeed while encouraging different viewpoints. I hope to contribute to a community where diverse voices are celebrated and where creativity, innovation, and collaboration can thrive together.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
I would absolutely be myself and stay authentic, sharing my perspective as a Muslim woman and my passion for promoting diversity in business.
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
I would start the application process a little earlier to give myself more time to refine essays and reach out to recommenders. Having extra time would have reduced stress and allowed me to polish everything even more.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
Honestly, the process wasn’t hard, so I didn’t really have to skip anything. Even the parts that felt repetitive or time-consuming didn’t feel like obstacles because I reminded myself that each section helped tell a complete story about who I am, my experiences, and my goals.
