Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I decided to attend business school because I want to broaden my impact beyond law. After years of working in media, entertainment and technology law, I realized that the most exciting part of my work wasn’t just navigating legal risks, but helping shape business strategy. Now, as I prepare to transition from law school to my first post-J.D. role, I see an MBA as the perfect complement to my legal training. The timing feels right because I’ve built a strong foundation in law and leadership, and I’m ready to expand my toolkit to include finance, strategy and operations.
Why did you choose Rice Business? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Rice Business stood out because of its small, tight-knit community and its location in Houston — a dynamic city at the intersection of energy, healthcare and innovation. I wanted a program where I wouldn’t just be another student in the crowd but part of a collaborative environment where relationships matter. The personal attention Rice gives students, the strong alumni network in Texas and beyond, and the reputation for shaping leaders who are both ambitious and grounded were all major factors in my decision.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
I bring a unique blend of legal expertise and creative industry experience. Having worked in-house at major companies and advised on high-stakes entertainment and technology matters, I understand how to bridge legal, business and creative perspectives. Beyond professional skills, I also bring a passion for mentorship — I’ve helped peers and younger students navigate law school, fellowship applications and career choices. That commitment to uplifting others is something I’m excited to continue at Rice.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
A fun fact is that I’m a huge Chili’s supporter and videos of my love for the restaurant have gone viral. It’s not just a casual thing; I eat there so much, and it’s become a running joke among my friends and family that I’m their unofficial brand ambassador. I love the consistency, affordability, and honestly, the comfort of knowing I can always count on a skillet queso or a half-order of ribs after a long day. I’ve been going for so long that I can probably recite the entire menu from memory — down to the seasonal specials. For me, Chili’s is more than a restaurant; it’s a space where I can unwind, celebrate small wins, or just enjoy a good meal in familiar company.
Post-MBA career interests:
My goal is to work at the intersection of business, media and innovation — ideally in strategy or business development at a major entertainment or technology company. Long term, I want to be in an executive role where I can influence how creative content is financed, distributed and protected globally.
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
I’d reach out to current students and alumni early. Those conversations gave me authentic insights into culture and helped me tell my story in a way that aligned with Rice Business’ values.
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
I would have started my application earlier. The best writing comes after multiple drafts, and giving myself more runway would have reduced stress and allowed me to polish my voice.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
I would have skipped waiting for decisions — the anxiety can be draining. What helped was focusing on things I could control: work, relationships and preparing myself mentally for any outcome.

What is your initial impression of the Rice Business students/culture/community?
Genuine, collaborative and welcoming. Everyone I’ve met at Rice Business is ambitious but also approachable, willing to share resources and genuinely invested in each other’s success.
What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
I’m hoping to join the Rice Business Entrepreneurship Association to sharpen my technical skills, as well as the Black Business Student Association because I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is to have a supportive community in demanding environments.
What is one thing you have learned about Rice Business that has surprised you?
I was surprised by how accessible faculty are. Professors don’t just teach; they actively engage with students, connect them to opportunities and make themselves available in ways that feel rare for a top MBA program.
What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I’m most excited about the teamwork aspect — working on case competitions, group projects and hands-on learning with classmates who come from such diverse industries. I’m also looking forward to immersing myself in Houston’s business community and seeing how Rice students connect classroom learning to real-world impact.
