Had a fantastic interview with the MIT Sloan Adcom team.
I was a member of the waitlist from Round 2 and was invited for interview at Round 3 Decisions on 24 April.
Very conversational, open and friendly, felt more like a thoughtful chat over coffee with a mentor compared to a formal interview.
1. Any updates since you submitted your application and waitlist updates?
I spoke on activities that had materialized over the last couple of months, that I did not mention in the application or waitlist updates. It led to a tangential conversation on the current events of my industry and the activities I mentioned, my thoughts and the interviewer’s thoughts on the matters.
2. Tell me something about your data visualization.
3. Then to Why MBA, Why Now and Why Sloan?
4. Tell me about a time when you worked on something that had a lasting impact.
5. Tell me about a time when something did not go to plan. How did you find out? What was your response? What was the outcome?
6. Any questions for me?
By then the 30 minutes had completed and we concluded the call.
Overall, my interview experience only further reinforced why I like Sloan.
The questions were all grounded in reality and the interviewer thoughtfully asked follow on questions to dig deeper into the experiences I shared.
The interviewer answered all my questions in detail and did recommend me to look up some other resources pertaining to my queries, which was super helpful.
Of course I would have loved to talk in even more detail but I believe the 30 minutes is sufficient to cover what I wanted to show to Sloan about my candidacy for their MBA program.
I like that the interviewer has read the whole file and has poignant thoughts on where to direct the conversation based on what I have shared.
Looking forward to the admissions team decision next week,
Fingers crossed 🙂
