The interview was with a senior member of the admissions team. I received the name of my interviewer when I selected my timeslot. It was about 45 minutes.
I prepared for a standard behavioral/resume-based interview, but this was the most unconventional interview I had in the MBA process. It was VERY conversational, and I don’t have a list of questions I was asked because most were embedded within the conversation. My advice for people preparing would be to be ready to adapt to questions, and have stories that you could naturally embed even when not asked a question in the traditional “TMAT” format.
The interviewer began by making very light-hearted small talk about sports/my city. Their first official question was asking me to describe who I am as a person. That line of questioning went on for a few more minutes, and was followed by questions about why I want to get an MBA. In the MBA discussion, there were a lot of questions trying to gauge how I’ll handle teamwork in the classroom. Lastly, we talked about career aspirations, and I felt like they were very transparent about the current challenges of post-grad job placement, specifically in my industry of interest.
I was then given ample time to ask my own questions. They were transparent about when I would receive an admissions decision. When I sent my thank-you note, they sent a very warm, welcoming response. Looking forward to finding out their decision later this month.
