The interview was résumé-based and included questions such as:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why MBA?
  • Why Kellogg?
  • Why now?
  • Short- and long-term career goals? Have you already started working toward them?

I was also asked:

  • How do your promotions compare to those of your peers?
  • Tell me about a time you experienced conflict at work.
  • What three words would your coworkers use to describe you (with examples)?
  • What would you contribute to Kellogg?

I expected questions like Why MBA, Why Kellogg, and Why now. However, I was surprised by the question about comparing my promotions to my peers and whether I had already started taking steps toward my goals.

Since this was my first MBA interview, I was initially nervous, but I became more comfortable as the conversation progressed. The interviewer, a student, was very kind and genuinely interested in my answers, which made the experience positive and made Kellogg seem like a very friendly and welcoming community.

My advice for fellow applicants is to stay calm and practice beforehand. Practicing helps you answer more clearly and confidently. After the interview, try not to overthink what you could have done better, focus instead on preparing for the next one.
