The University of Michigan Ross School of Business has officially expanded its footprint on the West Coast with the opening of a new campus in downtown Los Angeles, creating a hub for executive education, alumni engagement, and business collaboration in one of the world’s largest economic centers.

Located at The Grand LA, the new 20,000-square-foot Michigan Ross Los Angeles campus is designed to support business education while strengthening the school’s connections with industries driving innovation across Southern California. The facility includes state-of-the-art classrooms, study rooms, collaborative workspaces, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and flexible conference facilities. Situated in the Grand Avenue Arts Corridor, the campus places Michigan Ross in close proximity to downtown Los Angeles’ business district as well as the city’s renowned arts, entertainment, and cultural institutions.

“Few cities match the energy and global reach of Los Angeles,” said Sharon F. Matusik, the Edward J. Frey Dean of Business. “This campus brings the Michigan Ross spirit to a city that shares our drive to innovate and make an impact. It’s an exciting chapter for us and we look forward to becoming an even greater part of the LA community and expanding what’s possible for Ross students, alumni, faculty, and partners.”

The new location builds upon Michigan Ross’ existing presence in Los Angeles, which began in 2012 with the launch of a second cohort for its Executive MBA program. While the campus will continue serving Executive MBA students, it is also intended to support additional educational offerings for business executives, creating new opportunities for lifelong learning and professional development.

Beyond academics, the Los Angeles campus will serve as a gathering place for Ross alumni, corporate partners, and the broader University of Michigan community, providing dedicated space for meetings, networking events, conferences, and other programming.

The expansion also positions Michigan Ross closer to industries at the forefront of business transformation, including entertainment, media, technology, finance, real estate, and entrepreneurship. School leaders say the Los Angeles location strengthens Ross’ reach across the western United States while serving as a gateway to Latin America, Southeast Asia, and other global markets.

The opening reflects a broader effort by business schools to establish a presence in key innovation hubs, giving students and alumni greater access to employers, executives, and emerging industries outside their home campuses. For Michigan Ross, the new Los Angeles campus extends a long-standing Executive MBA presence into a permanent home that supports education, community building, and engagement across one of the world’s most dynamic business ecosystems.
