The class profile for the UCLA Anderson School of Management MBA Class of 2028 is out.
For the first time in a few years, the school received under 3,000 applications–2,422 to be exact. This year’s class numbers 287 students, compared to 307 in the Class of 2027. Women make up 39 percent of the Class of 2028, which is a seven percent decrease from last year. Based on federal guidelines, 54 percent identify as U.S. minorities, an 11 percent dip from the Class of 2027. Twenty-nine percent of U.S. citizens and permanent residents are Asian American. Fifteen percent identify as Hispanic and nine percent as Black/African American.
Thirty-six percent of the new class are international students, a one percent increase from last year. Nine percent are members of the LGBTQ+ community. Military veterans and active duty armed forces members make up six percent of the class.

Undergraduate Experience
With an average undergraduate GPA of 3.5, the incoming MBA class maintains Anderson’s high standard of academic excellence. The mean GMAT score (10th Edition) came in at 718 with the middle 80 percent range landing at 650 to 750. For those who took the GMAT (Focus), their average score landed at 660 and the middle 80 percent range was 635 to 695. The average combined GRE score is 326, with the Verbal at 162 and the Quant at 164.

The distribution of undergraduate majors is largely the same as last year, though humanities and social sciences overtook engineering. Business majors are again the largest group of incoming MBAs, representing 31 percent of the class. Engineering students make up 19 percent, humanities and social science majors 22 percent, and economics majors 14 percent. Nine percent of students majored in biological and physical sciences.

Professional Background
The Class of 2028 comes from a variety of industries and holds an average of 5.4 years of work experience. Ninety percent of students are in the program with the goal of switching careers. Technology professionals make up 17 percent of the class while 16 percent came from a finance industry background. Eleven percent hailed from the media/entertainment industry, and 10 percent each had worked in the government/education/impact/public sectors or other/law/energy/hospitality. Nine percent each had come from healthcare or consulting backgrounds.
