The members of the Berkeley Haas MBA Class of 2028 in this Real Humans: MBA Students share an appreciation for Haas’s close-knit culture, Bay Area location, and Defining Leadership Principles. From building startups and expanding access to healthcare to strengthening local communities, these four students are arriving in Berkeley ready to learn from one another and make an impact.

Anna Joung comes to Haas from Seoul, South Korea, with eight years of experience in tech, including go-to-market and growth product management. After watching the AI startup ecosystem accelerate—and seeing Korean startups increasingly relocate to the United States—she saw an MBA as her opportunity to put herself at the center of the Bay Area’s technology scene. Then, Kayle Kane brings a healthcare-focused background to Haas, having worked in revenue cycle consulting at Cloudmed and outcomes and operational intelligence at UCHealth. A UCLA psychobiology graduate, Kane pursued the MBA to build a foundation in areas such as finance, accounting, economics, and strategy while preparing herself to tackle larger challenges in healthcare. She is also pursuing the MBA/MPH dual degree and entered Haas with early exposure to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through an internship with Berkeley SkyDeck Fund.

We also meet Giovanna Soto Zegarra, who is returning to UC Berkeley after earning her undergraduate degree in political science there in 2020. A San Francisco native, she has spent her career working across the public and private sectors, first supporting families through education nonprofit SF Parents and later working in new business at fintech company Plaid. Soto Zegarra chose business school to deepen her skills in strategy, finance, and product while opening new possibilities within tech, and Haas offered a combination of technology access, social impact, and a tight-knit community in the Bay Area she already calls home. Finally, Yitzy Rosenberg arrives at Haas with perhaps the most varied professional résumé of the group, spanning venture capital, water infrastructure, e-commerce, real estate private equity, consulting, and entrepreneurship. An engineer by training, Rosenberg has spent much of his career in business operations and pursued an MBA to add formal business training to that experience while further immersing himself in technology and entrepreneurship. His path to Haas has been equally distinctive: born in Colombia and raised in Miami, he left an insular ultra-Orthodox community, taught himself the material he needed after not attending high school, and ultimately made his way through community college to Cornell and now Berkeley.

Read on to learn more about their journeys to Berkeley, their advice for navigating the MBA application process, and what they hope to accomplish as members of the Haas MBA Class of 2028.
