Texas McCombs MBA Admissions Connection: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
Questions Asked: Only one: “Why McCombs?” Interview Experience & Vibe: I purposely matched with a second-year student who shared my non-traditional background and was a fellow in a prestigious McCombs program. This allowed me to ask highly targeted questions about transitioning to traditional recruiting pipelines and understanding how I could be a part of said prestigious program. Stanford GSB MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Adcom / Virtual
Interview lasted about 40 mins. Interview was very pleasant and I really enjoyed the conversation with the (adcom) interviewer. INSEAD MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Off-Campus
R1 alum interview, off-campus in-person, ran about an hour. Very conversational and felt more like a chat than an evaluation. It was resume-based, and felt that he clearly read mine. Opened with Tell me about yourself, then moved through Why MBA/Why Now, Why INSEAD, short- and long-term goals, strengths/weaknesses, and what I’d contribute to the class. Two behavioral questions: Tell me about a time I had to face failure and asked me to share an instance in which I lead a team/tough situations. I'm studying for the GRE right now, aiming for a ~320 score. I currently work in the airline industry working on commercial strategy and was accepted into a highly competitive rotational program coming out of undergrad. I'm hoping to get an MBA and pivot to MBB consulting, with the goal of eventually returning back to the aviation industry as an experienced leader. My geographical preference post-MBA is in the South. My target school list includes Duke Fuqua, Emory, Wharton, Ross, Kellogg, and HBS. I would appreciate some advice regarding the odds of attaining my target school list and how I should approach the upcoming application season.
