Strategy consultant with Deloitte India. 4 yr gap in CV for a major personal impediment. Waitlisted in R2, submitted a LOCI + addition LoR + community referral. No update on portal, so assuming I continue to remain on the waitlist. Has anyone received an admit in R3? Don't know what to do next. I have an admit at UNC with 100k scholarship but Darden truly is my dream school

Question about Columbia

I am an R2 waitlist and recently had a call with adcom. She asked me if I still want to remain in the WL because adcom want to have meeting in the coming weeks and will release decision on a rolling basis until end of May. She also asked me if I have a specific date that I want to hear from the adcom on the decision. I mentioned to her I prefer to hear by this week. I also mentioned on my waitlist form that I got accepted to another M7 program but CBS is my no.1 choice and committed to enroll if admitted from the WL. For those who have same experience, what's the chance of getting off of the WL after this call? And how long did you hear after the call?

Note:

It was between HBS and Columbia. After more research, It was apparent that the overall quality of the students at HBS is significantly higher (consistent with the brand). The Columbia admits wanted the job I already had when I was 22 lol. While the investing program was interesting, it’s overhyped. None of them are getting those jobs. The buy side is reserved for HBS. I would caution anyone on here who lives on the east coast to going anywhere other than HBS and maybe Wharton. I spoke to a lot of people and it seems almost like a negative on a resume going to a second tier school because that signals that you your arnt a 10/10. Just something to think about

Note:

A general reminder for this year's candidates to give back, be it here or elsewhere, to future candidates going through the application process. Remember how hard it was making informed choices about which schools to apply to, what helped for your applications, and which program to choose (if you got into multiple). You as a 1Y/2Y will know a lot more even one term into MBA about what things actually do or don't really matter once you're in a program than when you were on the outside. What info is stale, false/rumor that is regurgitated, half-truth, embellished/marketing, or truth/supported etc. You know how recruiting is currently looking both at your programs or others through your network (career reports and rankings are backwards looking), and able to give informed unbiased opinions to help people out on what may be the best choice for them during the stressful process.
