The following Columbia MBA interview questions & report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!

Submitted my application 12/8/16, got invited to interview 1/6/17, scheduled interview for 1/18/17

Met my alumni interviewer at a casual cafe, dressed business formal.

Because I have an unconventional background, she asked me a lot of questions about how I transitioned from my UG major into that field and how I attained my first internship, which led directly into an overview of my resume.

We then talked about why MBA, why CBS, and what I was most excited about at Columbia. I told her I had already reached out to and met with a specific faculty member I was hoping to work with, knew a CBS alumni that had a pivotal impact on my post-MBA goals, and what other clubs I was hoping to join.

Our interview flowed like an intense conversation more so a list of questions so it’s hard to say if she would have asked ‘tell me about a personal/professional difficulty you went through’, since I launched into my prepared answer during the Resume Overview.

Because I have an unconventional background, it’s also hard to tell if she was asking questions for the interview or her own personal curiosity. Could surmise that CBS is VERY interested to find out WHY CBS, and how much you want to attend their program.

Either way, nothing too unexpected and it was nice to meet a recent alum who could explain what the program had done for her career and personal life.
