Cornell Johnson MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Adcom / Skype

The following Cornell Johnson MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!

The blind interview was conducted by AdCom over Skype. It was kept to strictly 30 minutes, as was mentioned at the very start. Thus, 1) The interviewer led the interview, maintaining the tempo of asking questions in a congenial, positive manner; 2) I conveyed, and would recommend other interviewees, my answers crisply and concisely as far as possible.

The questions were fairly straightforward and the pattern somewhat linear, with few follow up questions on each and the interviewer taking notes regularly. Overall, the interview was positive. Researching interview reports on this site and others should prepare one adequately, I believe.

Questions:

  1. Run me through your résumé from undergraduate degree onwards.
  2. What are your short term career goals?
  3. Which companies and roles have you identified towards your proposed post-MBA career, and do these recruit at Cornell?
  4. What alternative career options have you considered?
  5. Why MBA, and why at this stage in your career?
  6. Why pursue a Cornell MBA?
  7. Follow-up: How have you researched your proposed immersion at Cornell?
  8. Anything else that you would like to mention that hasn’t been covered thus far, or isn’t on your resume?
  9. Any questions for me?
