The following Harvard Business School / HBS interview questions and report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant. Good luck to them!

Overall, it was a positive experience. I met with an Adcom and observer. I was expecting grueling and detailed questions, but it was mostly specific questions about my application (lots of elaboration and explanation). The Adcom focused on “why” I made specific professional decisions.

-Why did you major in finance?
-What type of industry would you want to work with in M&A?
-I read your essay, can you explain this portion to the observer?
-How was this initiative profitable?
-Explain this professional award that you won
-Explain this project that you worked on
-How much support/instruction did you have on this project?
-Why do you gravitate towards project management and establishing new programs?
-Is there anything that we didn’t cover that you’d like to tell me?

I was nervous about discussing future goals. My goal is Finance/M&A, but I don’t work in this sector. There were only two questions about future goals, and they were broad. No curve balls. I don’t feel like I nailed the interview – it was hard to get a read. I won’t be surprised either way regarding my admission decision.

Like everyone has said, know your application inside and out – it’s all fair game. Practice elaborating certain points. Video recording my answers helped me. Good luck!
