A Northwestern / Kellogg MBA interview report with a few important questions to note was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 1 applicant on-campus accompanied by a student observer.

The interview was in-line with what I expected and stuck to the 30 minute time frame.

The adcom representative started off by asking me questions about:

  • why I chose my undergrad college
  • why I’d chosen my first job
  • why I’d made a recent switch

The interview included fairly standard interview questions:

  • tell us about a time you showed leadership, took a risk, worked with a group of people different than yourself
  • how would you describe your leadership style
  • what would you former boss say about you

Questions that made me think a little bit more were:

  • what is your biggest impact / value contribution to your team, if not X industry
  • what would you pursue
  • what would your boss say your weaknesses are
  • there were no “gotcha” questions.
  • Definitely prepare the why Kellogg and why MBA answer as well.

Conclusion

I got the sense that they were really trying to get to know me and understand some of the transitions on my resume and how I’d fit in within the Kellogg community. My interviewer was very nice and overall it was a very positive experience.
