The University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management is launching two new programs: a Master of Management (MMgt) and a One-Year MBA.
“The Master of Management program is designed to provide students with the critical thinking, creative problem-solving and communication skills they need to succeed,” said Prof. Joseph Milner, Vice-Dean, MBA Programs in the school’s announcement. “With the One-Year MBA, students will leverage their academic business background to accelerate their MBA and develop the skills and leadership experience they need to achieve their career goals.”
In contrast to Rotman’s Full-Time MBA, a 20-month program which includes 16 months of instruction and a four-month paid internship, the One-Year MBA program delivers a degree in 12 months of academic study. One-year programs have become increasingly popular as an opportunity for certain candidates to expand their professional development while minimizing time away from the workforce.
The curriculum is fully customizable, offering ten academic emphases and over 100 electives as well as access to Rotman’s entrepreneurial, innovation, and finance labs, such as Creative Destruction Lab, Startup Rotman, FinHub, plus the LEADS Mentorship program.
The new Master of Management (MMgt) is an 11-month program designed for new graduates and young professionals with non-business backgrounds and undergraduate academic success in the social sciences, humanities, science, and engineering. MMgt students will learn the fundamentals of strategy, finance, economics, marketing, and leadership, and get hands-on experience with new applications of analytics and AI. Four electives allow students to customize their degree program, and the final semester includes a Management Practicum capstone course where students apply what they’ve learned in a real-world setting.
Both degree programs are scheduled to begin in May 2026.
MMgt candidates can visit the program website here, and register to attend an online information session on July 17. Admission offers require approval by the Quality Council and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
One-Year MBA candidates can visit the program website here and register to attend an online information session also scheduled for July 17. Applications will open in August.
