Olajumoke Oke, UGA Terry MBA Class of 2027
Hometown: Lagos, Nigeria
Undergraduate Institution and Major: University of Ibadan, Nigeria – Biochemistry
Pre-MBA Work Experience: Financial Planning & Analysis Manager Anheuser Busch InBev, 5.5 years, 3 years Brand Management in CPG
Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
After a few years rotating between commercial and finance roles in the CPG space, I realized the part of my job that energized me most was Revenue Growth Management. I loved seeing how small shifts in pricing, product assortment, or promotions could unlock meaningful top-line growth and how those levers connect across different industries. That curiosity quickly turned into an ambition: I want to build a career as a growth leader and eventually become a thought leader in revenue growth strategy.
Now feels like the right time for business school because I’ve built a solid foundation of technical and functional experience, but I want to take the next step which includes learning how to lead teams, shape strategy at a global level, and broaden my perspective beyond CPG. I see the MBA as a chance not only to sharpen my skills, but also to learn from classmates with diverse backgrounds who are tackling growth in completely different ways. It’s the right moment to pause, invest in myself, and prepare for the bigger leadership challenges I aspire to take
Why did you choose Terry College of Business? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Deciding on Terry was actually an easy choice for me. When I spoke with current students, they all echoed how supportive the faculty is and how intentional the program is about creating opportunities to help MBA students succeed. That sense of care and investment really stood out compared to other schools.
What ultimately sealed the deal was the small class size. I knew I wanted a program where I could build close relationships and feel part of a tight-knit community, not just another face in a big lecture hall. The closeness and familiarity at Terry make it a place where I can grow not only academically and professionally, but also personally.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
I’ll bring my experience in CPG and brand management, which I know will add a practical, real-world lens to our class discussions and casework. At the same time, I believe business school is also about the community you build. I love bringing people together. Whether it’s for hangouts, dinners, or parties, and I know those moments outside the classroom can spark bonds that last well beyond the MBA. That mix of professional perspective and community spirit is what I’m excited to contribute to the Class of 2027.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I love photography. For over 10 years, I’ve captured stories ranging from joyful children celebrating Christmas in Makoko, a floating village in Lagos, to intimate proposals on the beaches of Zanzibar. Photography allows me to document meaningful moments while also finding joy and connection, and it’s been one of the ways I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty and diversity of humanity.
Post-MBA career interests:
Post-MBA, I’m excited to build on my foundation in Revenue Growth Management by pursuing roles at the intersection of strategy, growth and finance. In the near term, I see myself in consulting or a growth-focused leadership roles, where I can help companies unlock value and scale more effectively.
Longer term, I’m also passionate about entrepreneurship and aim to leverage the skills and network from business school to create solutions that address everyday challenges people face.
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Take the time to craft stories that truly put your best foot forward. The reflections and anecdotes you share can make a huge difference in showing who you are beyond your resume
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
I would start preparing much earlier. I ended up rushing my Round 1 applications because I made the decision just a few weeks before the deadline, and an earlier start would have given me more time to polish everything.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
The GRE exam was challenging, but being on maternity leave during my preparation actually helped me dedicate longer, focused hours to studying and ultimately made the process more manageable.
What is your initial impression of the Georgia Terry students/culture/community?
Supportive, collaborative, and welcoming. From my interactions with students and alumni, it’s clear that people genuinely want to help each other grow—whether it’s sharing career advice, brainstorming solutions in class, or connecting you with someone in their network. There’s a real sense of community, where classmates celebrate each other’s successes and lift each other through challenges, which makes the environment both inspiring and motivating.
What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
Consulting Club – beyond helping you prepare for consulting interviews, the skills you gain like structured thinking, problem-solving frameworks, and logical analysis are invaluable not just professionally, but in everyday decision-making as well. I’m excited to apply these skills in class projects, case competitions, and real-world challenges.
What is one thing you have learned about Georgia Terry that has surprised you?
One thing that has surprised me about Georgia Terry is just how much being in Athens enhances the experience. I knew the school had a strong reputation, but I didn’t realize how much the town itself contributes to the community feel. Despite Terry being a large business school, the size of Athens and the culture here make it easy to meet people, build connections, and feel part of something bigger. It’s a unique blend of a vibrant college town with a close-knit community that really supports collaboration and personal growth.
What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I’m most excited about in my first year is immersing myself in the full American college experience—traveling around the United States, attending games, and enjoying the energy of tailgates and American football.
