Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
Furthering my education has always been important to me. I wanted to strengthen the foundational business skills I did not get in undergrad, such as accounting, finance, and strategy, while also refining my leadership style and broadening my perspective. In the professional world it is easy to get caught up in your role and become comfortable, but I know how important it is to keep learning and stretching myself. Business school felt like the right moment to step back, gain new tools, and challenge myself in new ways. I am especially excited about the chance to take advantage of Fuqua’s experiential learning opportunities, from mentored studies to internships, so I can apply what I am learning in real time.
Why did you choose Duke Fuqua? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Fuqua stood out for its strong collaborative culture, emphasis on impact-driven leadership, and the chance to gain hands-on experience in my areas of interest. The school’s balance of rigorous academics and entrepreneurial resources, such as CASE and Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship, aligned perfectly with my goals. I also felt an immediate sense of community during the admissions process as students, professors, and alumni genuinely wanted me to succeed. Stepping onto campus and into the city of Durham felt like home, which made the decision even clearer.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
I bring a unique blend of experiences across big tech, sports media, and nonprofit leadership. In each role I’ve had the chance to build programs and partnerships that opened doors for people who might not otherwise have had access, whether that meant connecting athletes to career opportunities, developing women-focused initiatives in finance, or creating spaces for underrepresented students. I thrive in creating pathways where few exist, and I’m excited to bring that same energy to Fuqua. Beyond my professional work, I hope to contribute by encouraging classmates to think big about the kind of impact they can have on others, and by being the type of teammate who helps people feel supported and included.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I am a huge sports fan, and one of my big bucket list goals is to attend a game in every NFL stadium across the country. I also want to make it to each of the classic college football rivalries, like Ohio State vs. Michigan, Alabama vs. Auburn, and Texas vs. Oklahoma.
Post-MBA career interests:
My primary goal is to pursue a career in venture capital, with a focus on sports, technology, and social impact innovation. I am also interested in private equity, especially as it relates to the evolving landscape of sports, where new ownership models and investment opportunities are reshaping the industry.
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Lean into informational interviews. Conversations with students and alumni gave me the clearest picture of each school’s culture and helped me articulate why Fuqua was the best fit.
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
Start test prep as early as possible. Giving yourself more runway makes the process far less stressful once school visits, essays, and applications start stacking up.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
Waiting on admissions decisions! I stayed grounded by leaning on my community, staying active, traveling, and reminding myself that the outcome wouldn’t define my worth.
What is your initial impression of the Fuqua students/culture/community?
I love it here. From the very beginning, I have felt welcomed and supported by my classmates and second years. Everyone is approachable and genuinely interested in helping each other succeed. One of the first highlights was the Team Challenge, where we spent the entire day going through ropes courses and activities that helped us build trust and deepen our sense of community in a safe space. I also attended my first Duke football game, and seeing the stadium packed with students in blue, cheering together, made me even more excited to be part of this community. What stands out most is the balance between ambition and humility. People want to achieve big things, but they also care deeply about building a strong community along the way.
What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
Fuqua Private Capital Club, Media, Entertainment & Sports Club, Net Impact Club, and the Black Business Student Association. These organizations align with my interests in investing, sports and media, social impact, and community. They’ll give me opportunities to build skills, connect with peers, and get involved in areas I’m passionate about.
What is one thing you have learned about Fuqua that has surprised you?
“Team Fuqua” might sound a little corny at first, but it is real. I have already felt it from my classmates, second years, and even alumni. The culture of support extends beyond Fuqua into Big Duke as a whole. What has surprised me most is how strong the sense of community is, with people so willing to share their time, advice, and encouragement.
What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I am most excited about learning. Whether it is leaning into my accounting courses, learning from the diverse professional backgrounds and interests of my peers, or taking advantage of experiential opportunities, I am eager to soak up as much as I can and grow in every direction.
