Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I have a decade of experience as an engineer on major infrastructure projects. While engineering work has been fulfilling, I am now seeking leadership roles with broader industry impact. An MBA will complement my engineering background by strengthening my skills in finance, strategy, and leadership, preparing me for positions that will shape the development and delivery of capital projects. On a personal note, the timing aligns with my partner’s fellowship at UF Shands, allowing us to graduate together.
Why did you choose Florida Warrington? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
I chose UF Warrington for its supportive community, small cohorts, and generous scholarships, which attract a diverse student body. The small class size allows for more personalized career guidance from the career services team, while the extensive Gator Nation provides connections across all industries. There are countless networking events such as football tailgates to build strong relationships among students and alumni.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
Coming from an engineering background, I’m used to tackling complex problems and finding practical solutions under pressure. Leading bridge projects has taught me the value of teamwork, clear communication, and attention to detail. In class, I hope to bring that same mindset to class projects and case competitions, approaching them analytically while collaborating with classmates to develop smart, creative solutions.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I have contributed to the design and construction of landmark infrastructure projects, such as the I-395 Signature Bridge in Miami, FL, and the New Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi, TX.
In my personal time, I enjoy getting outdoors. When I lived in Charlotte, NC, I often spent weekends taking day trips to the mountains, hiking to waterfalls, exploring small towns, and enjoying the chance to reset before heading back to the city.
Post-MBA career interests:
Positions in corporate development, investment banking, or strategy consulting focused on capital projects and infrastructure.
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Visit prospective MBA programs in person. Experiencing the campus, attending a class or networking event, and meeting current students and faculty gave me clarity about where I would thrive. After visiting UF, I knew with certainty that this was the right program for me.
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
After being accepted into the MBA program, it would have been helpful to connect with current students and program administrators to better prepare for the fast-paced environment. Speaking with current students who had already been navigating the program firsthand would have helped me to manage classwork, job applications, networking, and social events more efficiently.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
I wish I could have skipped the waiting. After investing so much effort researching schools, connecting with students and alumni, preparing for the GMAT, and writing essays, there was nothing left to do but wait. First came the wait for an interview invitation, then for the final decision. It was agonizing. I found myself checking forums constantly for any sign of news. In the end, I reminded myself that I had done everything within my control and chose to trust that good news would follow.
What is your initial impression of the Warrington students/culture/community?
I feel very fortunate to be part of an incredible cohort. Everyone comes from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, which makes classroom discussions and group projects both enlightening and engaging. The small class size fosters close collaboration, mentorship, and a strong sense of community, where students genuinely support each other’s growth.
What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
The UF MBA Association is the main organization for MBA students, organizing everything from professional development and networking to philanthropy, wellness initiatives, and social events. With such a small, collaborative cohort, it’s easy to find people with similar interests and get involved. Whether it’s practicing case interviews with classmates or bonding at tailgates with peers and alumni, I’m excited to jump in and connect in a variety of ways.
What is one thing you have learned about Warrington that has surprised you?
I was pleasantly surprised by how much Warrington invests in its students. Professors are highly engaged, approachable, and genuinely committed to student success, while advisors provide consistent guidance. Combined with a collaborative, supportive, and diverse cohort, this creates an environment where I feel both challenged and empowered to grow academically, professionally, and personally.
What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I’m excited to figure out where I fit in the business world. My classes will give me the chance to explore new subjects and develop new skills, while case competitions and an internship will let me apply what I’m learning to real-world business challenges. I can’t wait to discover what truly interests me and see where my career takes me.
