Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I decided to attend business school to strengthen my leadership and strategic management skills. After spending years in technical engineering and finance roles, I see business school as the next step in my career towards leadership and management, and I could not be more excited.

Why did you choose Vanderbilt Owen? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Vanderbilt Owen stood out for its collaborative culture, small class size, diversity and strong focus on leadership development. I was drawn to the tight-knit community where students, faculty, and alumni genuinely invest in one another’s success. In addition, the school’s strength in finance and consulting, and the supportive environment for entrepreneurship made it the ideal choice for me.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
I bring a rare blend of technical and financial expertise across energy sectors. My career has spanned nuclear energy, oil and gas, engineering/manufacturing, and clean energy project finance. That mix gives me a unique lens on how industries evolve and how capital can drive big changes. I also bring a mission-driven mindset – always thinking about how business decisions can deliver both financial results and positive community impact.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
When I was younger, I was part of a relay team which traveled from school to school to compete in track and field events and win prizes. Great memories!

Post-MBA career interests:
I’m interested in driving innovative energy solutions – through consulting, finance, or entrepreneurship –especially for underserved communities.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Connecting with current students and alumni. Their stories gave me more insight into the Owen culture in a way that was more personal than going through the website for example.

–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
I would start prepping earlier. Planning way ahead would have made the application process a lot smoother.

–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
Relocating was tough, but keeping the bigger picture in mind helped me through it.

What is your initial impression of the Vanderbilt Owen students/culture/community?
Warm and collaborative. Everyone I’ve met – from students to staff – has been approachable and genuinely willing to help. You really feel like you are part of a supportive community.

What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
I am excited to join the Owen Venture & Entrepreneurship Club, Owen Finance Club, and Owen Strategy and Consulting Club since they tie directly to my background and career goals. I am also excited to join the Owen Black Students Association to connect with peers and support diversity initiatives.

What is one thing you have learned about Vanderbilt Owen that has surprised you?
I was pleasantly surprised by how accessible the faculty and staff are. They go out of their way to know students by name (the small class size makes this easier) and invest in our growth.

What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I am excited about diving into case competitions and team projects – the chance to learn from people with completely different backgrounds and to challenge myself in new ways. Overall, I am thrilled to be part of this community.
