Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
The decision was tough, as it was a major “career pivot” from my experience in the Army. My primary reason to go to Business School was because I felt like I had served in all the positions that I wanted to in the military. Business school seemed like a great opportunity to optimally position myself for that transition.
Why did you choose Emory Goizueta? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Emory Goizueta first stood out to me because of their reputation (Top 20 National Ranking) and location. Welcoming Weekend sold it to me though, and it was really the feel of community and the sense that Goizueta placed great value on giving back to society that sealed my decision.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2027?
My strengths lie within my experiences in decision making, leadership and teamwork in many different environments/situations.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
My father is a small business owner (Alexander’s Grocery and Deli), and seeing his work ethic and level of respect for every customer and employee has always been an inspiration to me.
Post-MBA career interests:
I’m very much still learning – but right now I’m interested in General Management/Product Management, Operations, and Marketing and Sales.
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Go to Welcoming Weekend!
–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
I made the decision to even apply to business school late in the game (January). I wouldn’t recommend that.
–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
The most difficult part was actually making the decision to leave the military and pursue business school – and many conversations with friends/co-workers/family helped me through it.
What is your initial impression of the Emory Goizueta students/culture/community?
I have really been impressed with Goizueta and most importantly the people here. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my classmates and I feel fortunate to be in this program with them.
What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
I’m in the Goizueta Veterans Association, which has been very helpful for me during my transition from military to civilian life. Shout out Preston Wilson.
What is one thing you have learned about Emory Goizueta that has surprised you?
The size/beauty of the campus was a surprise for me, prior to starting class this summer I had only seen the Business School!
What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
The GEM! Haven’t decided yet where I’m going.
