Crow Thorsen, Emory Goizueta MiM Class of 2026
Age: 22
Hometown: Athens, Georgia
Undergraduate Institution and Major: Emory University, Psychology and International Studies
Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I love to learn, and I was excited to deepen my understanding of business. Many of my teammates, including my brother, are completing or have completed the Goizueta BBA program, so I was already familiar with Goizueta’s vast resources and opportunities. I wanted to take advantage of them and continue building on my academic and personal growth here.
Why did you choose Emory Goizueta? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Choosing Emory Goizueta allowed me to continue being part of the Emory Swimming & Diving team, a community I love, as well as the broader Emory community. Coming back to campus was incredibly fun; people across campus, from dining to facilities to parking, stopped me saying, “I thought you graduated!” There are so many smiling faces at Emory, and I’m grateful for one more year surrounded by this community.
What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the class?
I think my experience as an Emory undergraduate helps me support my classmates as they transition into life here, whether that’s showing them around campus or answering random questions. I also bring an academic background in political science and psychology, which gives me a different perspective in OAM and marketing classes, and allows me to share ideas and frameworks with the cohort.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I have never eaten at McDonalds!
Post-MiM career interests:
One thing I appreciate about this program is that it sets you up for success even if you’re still exploring your exact path. Working with Carla and Anna, and talking to professors and classmates, has helped me learn about different opportunities and career directions. This program has made me feel confident and excited to explore where my passions fit in the business world. Right now, I’m especially interested in consulting, nonprofits, and higher-education work.
Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Talk with Anna frequently and reach out to current students. Everyone I spoke with was incredibly positive about the program, the faculty, and the community, which confirmed it was the right fit for me.
