In this episode of the Clear Admit MBA Admissions Podcast, we examine the heart of the MBA experience — the curriculum itself — at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Georgetown McDonough recently announced a redesigned MBA curriculum with a strong emphasis on AI, ethical leadership, global perspective, and helping students build career momentum earlier in the program.

Dr. Sudipta Dasmohapatra

To unpack these changes, host Graham Richmond welcomes special guest Dr. Sudipta Dasmohapatra, Professor of the Practice (Marketing and Business Analytics) and Senior Associate Dean of MBA Programs at McDonough.

Dr. Dasmohapatra oversees the full portfolio of MBA programs at McDonough and brings deep expertise in analytics, AI, and curriculum design. Prior to her Dean appointment, she served as the Academic Director of the Masters in Business Analytics (MSBA) at McDonough, having launched the MSBA program in Spring 2021. She has worked with numerous industry partners, government and non-profit organizations on a variety of business analytics projects. Previously, Dr. Dasmohapatra served as the Director of the Masters in Statistical Science in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke University. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Duke Fuqua, where she has taught Health Analytics and Digital Marketing. She joined the board of Statistical and Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI), an NSF funded Math and Statistics Institute, in July 2018 as the Associate Director of Diversity. She has over 10 years of experience consulting in analytics and data science practice.

In this episode, Dr. Dasmohapatra walks us through how Georgetown is reimagining the academic core of the MBA itself — from the opening term all the way through graduation. She talks about:

  • what prompted McDonough to rethink the curriculum
  • the goals of an MBA curriculum in 2026
  • the structure of the new curriculum and the prominent focus on AI
  • the integration of “power skills” like communication, ethical decision-making, and leadership
  • the influence of the new curriculum on recruiting

…and more!
