London Business School MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 1 / Alum / Off-campus

The LBS interview was on a weekend in the interviewer’s office. I wore a suit and tie, but the interviewer was dressed in regular street clothes. The interview was overall a high-pressure interview and I was challenged a lot throughout the two-hour period. The key for me was to remain calm and stay focused on why LBS, why an MBA, and why I chose the career I’m in.

Questions:

  1. Tell me about your work and education background.
  2. Why do you want an MBA?
  3. Why do you want to go to LBS?
  4. Why did you choose the career you’re in?
  5. Do you think LBS can help you find a career in this same field?
  6. How will you ensure that you find a job post-graduation?
  7. How will your work experience benefit your fellow MBA candidates at LBS?
  8. Outside of your work experience, how will you add value to LBS?
  9. What do you do in your spare time outside of work, GMAT, MBA applications, etc.?

There were not many questions asked, but the majority did have follow up questions based on my answers. The presentation was on a topic that the interviewer had chosen and not on the provided list from LBS. This actually made the presentation a bit easier because the topic chosen was in line with my industry and experience.

At the end, the interviewer did provide feedback without me asking for it.

Hope this helps, and best of luck to everyone!
