The Dartmouth Tuck School of Business welcomed 304 students to its MBA Class of 2027 and we take a look at their class profile.

“Every year we seek candidates who are not only academically capable, but who will stretch themselves and invest in the success of others,” says Lawrence Mur’ray, executive director of admissions and financial aid, in the school’s press release. “The members of the class of 2027 embody those values fully.”

Class Demographics

The Dartmouth Tuck MBA Class of 2027 reflects a dynamic and diverse community, with 44% of the class being women. Of U.S. students, 30 percent are minorities, which includes American Indians, African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic/Latinx, and Native Hawaiians. Thirty-four percent of the class are international students, representing 46 countries by citizenship and 38 by professional experience. LGBTQ+ identifying students make up nine percent of the class, and 13 percent are first-generation college students. Tuck made gains across all of these categories compared to last year, with the exceptions of a slight dip in first-gen students and maintaining percentage of women.

Academic and Professional Background

The average undergraduate GPA compared to last year’s class held steady at 3.6. The Tuck MBA Class of 2027 showcases an impressive academic diversity, with students hailing from 192 different institutions and representing 85 unique undergraduate majors. Among them, 48 percent had studied the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Twenty-two percent had pursued STEM majors while another 25 percent of students come from business backgrounds. Ten percent of the incoming MBAs already hold an advanced degree.

The average GMAT (10th edition) score of 727 matched last year’s record. For those who took the Focus edition, they averaged a score of 671.

GRE scores were submitted by 54 percent of admitted students. The Verbal average came in at 162 while the Quant average landed at 160.

Students bring an average 5.75 years of professional experience with them through 252 unique employers. Consulting and finance professionals each make up 19 percent of the class. Fourteen percent hail from the nonprofit and/or government sectors while 11 percent had worked in technology. Another nine percent have pre-MBA work experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or the biotech industries.
