It was a straightforward behavioral interview with a set of specific questions the student had received from the AdCom. There were no follow-up questions to dig further into my answers. My interviewer was very kind and warm.
Questions:
1. Tell me about yourself.
2. Why MBA now? Why Haas?
3. How have you contributed to a community? How would you contribute to Haas?
4. Tell me about a time you took a risk. How did it pay off?
5. Tell me 3 adjectives your coworkers would use to describe you, and 3 your friends would use.
6. What’s a book you read recently and what did you learn from it?
He said there were 7 questions he was supposed to ask, but he didn’t like the 7th so he wasn’t going to ask it, which was a great way of building trust and rapport. After the 6 questions (~20 minutes), he stopped taking notes, said the rest of our time together was just for any questions I had for him and would have no bearing on his report to AdCom. I asked how he’s grown since starting the program and his favorite resources on campus.
Especially with the nerves of my first interview, my whole experience with my interviewer contributed to my understanding of Haasies as down-to-earth, caring people.
