LBS MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Alumnus / Zoom
Alum had a copy of my entire application. It was very conversational. We talked about my upbringing, background, early experiences and how they have shaped me and my MBA goals. Be clear on your story. There was a discussion about why LBS, why now, and why not other MBA programs. Be very clear on why LBS (and not let’s say INSEAD/HEC/other top program) is the right place for you. There was a short presentation for which you have 5 mins to prepare and 5 mins to present. Keep thoughts organized and structured. That matters more than the actual content. Know

HBS MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / On-Campus
Questions focused on my industry and role. What do I do everyday? How is AI going to impact it? What kind of leader do I want to be? Also touched on random stuff in my resume – Dungeons & Dragons. Interview was very friendly but fast-paced. Think they cared a lot that I was thinking about my role in a “meta” way and checking that my essays were factual. I was admitted off the waitlist in Round 2.

Stanford GSB MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Adcom / Zoom
The interview was conversational from the start. The interviewer introduced themselves, explained the process, and shared their personal connection to my city. The questions were behavioral and experience-based, beginning with the number of my direct reports, their tenure, and how I develop my team members into leaders. We then discussed why I am pursuing an MBA now, which led to follow-up questions regarding my role as a founder and how I would balance those responsibilities with the program. We also touched on my undergraduate experience, specifically what I enjoyed and how I engaged with the community. Overall, it was a

NYU Stern MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 4 / Adcom / Zoom
Submitted my application about 2 weeks after the Round 3 deadline, and was admitted before Round 4 deadline. I was a cum laude undergrad alumni (from another NYU school, not Stern), so that may have contributed to the quick admit. Interview was on the shorter side, about 30-40 minutes, and was very conversational. Probably one of my most pleasant interviews – Adcom was incredibly enthusiastic and kind. I was asked a question about one of my Pick Six slides, the typical “Why MBA, why Stern, why now,” one or two resume-based questions, and then about two behavioral questions. I was

LBS MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Alumnus / Zoom
The interview had three parts. First, we went through my résumé, background, goals, and reasons for applying to LBS. Then we did a short case interview of around 15 minutes. Finally, I had time to ask him questions. Although it was scheduled for 2 hours, it ended up lasting around 2 hours and 30 minutes. In the first section, he asked me to walk through my résumé and then went much deeper into specific experiences, including some of my hobbies. He also asked in detail why I wanted LBS and was very focused on understanding what made it different for

MIT Sloan MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Adcom / Zoom
I recently completed my MIT Sloan MBA interview and found it to be a thoughtful and engaging experience. It was clearly behavioral and application-based, with the interviewer asking targeted questions based on my essays rather than walking through my résumé. The questions focused on past experiences such as leading through ambiguity, influencing without authority, handling conflict, and driving impact. There were several follow-ups that pushed me to go deeper into my thinking and decision-making. What stood out was how much the interview emphasized reflection and self-awareness. It felt more like a conversation than a test, and the interviewer seemed genuinely

INSEAD MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Alumnus / Zoom
There were two alumni interviews, both one-hour long. While overall the interviewers were friendly, they did ask a couple of follow-up questions, specifically on my post-MBA goals. One of the interviewers was more stern while the other was more relaxed. The following are the questions asked: 1. Tell me about yourself. 2. What decisions did you take leading up to your first job? (e.g., undergrad major, internships) What influenced those decisions? 3. Why did you enroll in your first job? Describe a sample project. 4. Why MBA? Why now? 5. Post-MBA goals? (I got follow-ups on

Yale SOM MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
It was a short 30-min to the point interview. The interviewer didn’t have any follow-ups to my questions. He was quite friendly. I was asked the following questions: 1. Why was the quote you submitted meaningful to you? 6. Leadership style? 7. Who is your mentor and why? 8. Do you have any questions for me? Surprisingly, the interview

Duke Fuqua MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
Received invitation to interview at the end of January via the portal. Received the name of my interviewer in advance and was responsible for reaching out to them to set up the interview by the mandated deadline. Had around a 10-day turnaround time from invitation to interview deadline. Behavioral interview with a second-year student on Zoom that lasted around 45-50 minutes. Cornell Johnson MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / On-Campus
These were the main questions from the interview: Tell me about yourself. Why MBA? Why now? Why Ithaca/Cornell? What’s your plan if IB doesn’t work out? Where do you want to work after graduation? How will Cornell help you reach your goals? How have you prepared for IB and set yourself up to succeed? Who have you spoken with in the industry/school? Who are you outside of work? Washington Foster MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Adcom / Zoom
1) Why MBA, and why Foster? 2) TMAT you received negative feedback. 3) TMAT you received positive feedback. 4) TMAT you fostered diverse communities. 5) What will you bring to your learning team? Overall was a very standard interview. Interviewer confirmed my post-MBA goal was consulting, so while they were Adcom I’m not sure if they’d read my application beforehand or just had my resume. They told me at the start of the interview that we’d only do about 15 minutes of interview questions, and then would save time for any questions I had for Adcom.

Duke Fuqua MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
The interview was very conversational, with a second-year student. It was my first MBA interview, I was a little anxious before it, but the warm talk allowed me to breathe and take it calmly. I already knew who the interviewer was (no blind interview), so I was prepared. Two part interview: Resume and then behavioral The interviewer started by introducing herself, we had chance to briefly connect on some similarities from our careers. After that I answered to the Tell me about yourself question. We continued with the Whys (Why MBA, Why now and Why Fuqua), Short- and

UVA Darden MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
Interview is casual-ish, and very fluid. They don’t have your resume. I targeted 5 minutes or less for my background. Practiced that relentlessly. Tell me about yourself. Why MBA/Why now? Why Darden? TMATs Why Darden is an answer you should spend time on with info interviews. Start early in the process before you get an invite to interview. Make sure you don’t spend all your info interviews on professional discussion. Case method is a big deal hear so make sure you understand what it is, how it works, and why you are interested. More importantly, understand the community and be

Dartmouth Tuck MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
Interviewer was super friendly, but they will take more notes than other schools. My interviewer was awesome once we hit the “what questions do you have for me?” They have a rubric and they have to fill it out so be patient. I got all of the standard Tuck questions. Walk me through your resume. Why MBA / why now? Why Tuck / how will you show up in the community? TMATs Don’t be fooled by the standard question structure. Why Tuck should be your best answer because that is when the interviewer was absolutely engaged with eye contact. Rest

Cornell Johnson MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Former Adcom / Virtual
Interview was mostly warm, with one caveat I will cover later. Tell me about yourself/walk me through resume. Why MBA? Why your chosen post-MBA path? Why Johnson/Ithaca? How will you contribute to Johnson? (or something to that effect) TMATs Hardest question was: What 3 things do you want me to take back? I got more pushback here than any other school. Every assumption was tested, politely. I got in, with a sizeable scholarship, so don’t feel too insecure like I did.

Interview felt very conversational. I definitely used all 10 min on the TMAY/Why MBA question. Interviewer asked me a couple of follow-up questions on the handling conflict question, but otherwise it was mostly just friendly discussion on study abroad, food, and opportunities at Darden

USC Marshall MBA Interview Questions & Report: Round 2 / Adcom / Zoom
The interview was very short (around 15 minutes). I was asked the following questions: 1. Where I’m joining the meeting from (warm up question) 2. Why MBA? 3. Short-term goals? 4. Why Marshall? 5. Any hobbies that I like to do outside of work? 6. Remaining time was for questions. The interviewer was nice, but didn’t seem particularly engaged. I got the sense that the interview was a check-the-box task for the process. In the invite they specify that the interview is meant to be more for the applicant to get to know Marshall

The interview was résumé-based and conducted by an alumnus. It was very conversational and not strictly structured. We started with a walkthrough of my background, followed by questions such as describing a time I had to make a tough decision, my biggest achievement, and a challenging experience. A large part of the conversation focused on my post-MBA goals, including why that path and what my plan B would be. We also discussed Why MBA, Why now, Why Booth, and how I would contribute to the community. What stood out was the depth of the follow-up questions on career goals. It
