Chicago Booth MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 1 / 2nd year student / On-Campus

Hi all. Posting some time after my Round 1 on-campus interview, which really wasn’t so bad. The person who interviewed me was extremely friendly, and there were folks out in the admissions office waiting room who keep you calm by chatting with you. The questions (I might be forgetting a few, but these stand out):

  1. Walk me through your resume.
  2. Why do you want to go to business school?/What are your long-term goals?
  3. Why Booth?
  4. Talk about a time when you led a project that failed.
  5. How do you motivate people?
  6. How would you describe yourself in three words?
  7. What role do you play on a team?
  8. What do you like to do for fun?
  9. Do you have any questions for me?
  10. Is there anything else you’d like to tell me?

Good luck! Know the school well and be able to explain specifically why you think you’d be a good fit. Practice with a friend – I gave one of mine a long list of questions to choose from from this very site, let him prepare for 10 minutes or so, and he grilled me for 30 minutes. He was harder than any interviewer I faced, and it made me much more confident in the actual interviews. Thanks to everyone who contributes here!
