I received the interview invitation roughly one week after the Part I application deadline. The alumni interviewer requested the interview be made at a coffee shop at his office. He seemed overall friendly and was not as fluent in English as native speakers. Here are the questions I was asked:
- Are you a round 1 or 2 applicant? (silly question)
- What is your MBA entering year? (erm…)
- Please walk me thru your resume.
- I noticed you got promoted within just a year of work, why do you think you were promote so quickly?
- Can you tell me the details of your job? (this was probably because he was unfamiliar to my industry)
- What is your leadership style? What do you think are the most important quality that a leader should have?
- Tell me about a time when you and your team members had conflicting ideas. How did you solve it?
- Why Kellogg? Why MBA?
- What other B-schools have you applied to? How can I be sure that you would pick Kellogg if you were to be admitted?
Then he thanked me, saying the interview was very very impressive. That was the end of the interview.
RESULT: DINGED. (I was quite shocked but I guess the application process is based on way too many factors and is certainly unpredictable.)
