I recently completed my MIT Sloan MBA interview and found it to be a thoughtful and engaging experience. It was clearly behavioral and application-based, with the interviewer asking targeted questions based on my essays rather than walking through my résumé.
The questions focused on past experiences such as leading through ambiguity, influencing without authority, handling conflict, and driving impact. There were several follow-ups that pushed me to go deeper into my thinking and decision-making.
What stood out was how much the interview emphasized reflection and self-awareness. It felt more like a conversation than a test, and the interviewer seemed genuinely interested in how I approach problems and work with others. The depth of the follow-up questions was slightly surprising and required very specific examples.
My advice would be to prepare clear, detailed stories and be ready to go beyond surface-level answers.
