Interview is casual-ish, and very fluid. They don’t have your resume. I targeted 5 minutes or less for my background. Practiced that relentlessly.

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why MBA/Why now?
  • Why Darden?
  • TMATs

Why Darden is an answer you should spend time on with info interviews. Start early in the process before you get an invite to interview. Make sure you don’t spend all your info interviews on professional discussion. Case method is a big deal hear so make sure you understand what it is, how it works, and why you are interested. More importantly, understand the community and be ready to talk about why you are interested.

Make sure you listen to tidbits they give you about themselves. I had prepped questions, but completely pivoted to talk about similarities between myself and my interviewer’s background. Through one small comment they made, I was able to ask a question and find we had super similar backgrounds pre-MBA. Then the rest of my questions got a ton of attention and unique responses. Definitely felt like active listening on this interview made it so much better.

In general, this was my favorite interview on fun factor (if you can call it that given the stakes). It felt more like a coffee chat or a chat over a beer with some structure on the front end.
