The following Michigan / Ross MBA interview report was submitted to Clear Admit by a Round 2 applicant. Good luck to them!

I interviewed on-campus, which consists of a half day of presentations, optional class visits, building tours, etc. On the date I interviewed, there were probably close to 100 people with me. We were split up into two groups – one group went off to go meet their interviewers, whereas the other group stayed behind and had opportunities to ask current students whatever questions they liked.

As for my actual interview, it was quite laid back and relaxed. You’ll want to prepare the standard “Why MBA”, “Why Ross”, “Walk me through your résumé” questions. My interviewer in particular asked a few follow up questions on “why now” – I had ~3.5 years of work experience, which is a bit lower than Ross’ median. There were also a couple of behavioral questions (tell me about a time you failed, when you had to lead a team, etc. ). I did my undergrad at Michigan as well, so there were a few questions about why I was coming back, etc.

As for the team exercise, don’t stress – it’s not as bad as it sounds. You essentially pull random words from a hat and work with a group to come up with some sort of business problem and solution. Anything goes! As long as you contribute and don’t come off as a jerk, you should be fine.

Overall, I thought the process was more organized and better run than some of the other schools I interviewed at…definitely had a solid experience!
