The following Columbia MBA interview questions & report were submitted to Clear Admit by a Rolling Admissions Round applicant. Good luck to them!

I got notified of my interview invite on 1/18. Got matched to an alumni and arranged an interview for 1/21. We met at his condo and used one of the meeting rooms there. I used business casual since it was off-campus and a Saturday. Super casual environment. He started by giving me a summary of his background. Then, he asked me to tell him about my story, not the regular walk me through your résumé, so I was able to give him a perspective of where I was coming from.

The interview became conversational but he asked me the following questions within:

  • Why an MBA?
  • Why CBS?
  • Post-MBA goal, and alternative goal if I don’t get there.
  • Have I ever been to NYC?
  • Tell me a leadership experience.
  • What about Columbia besides finance was of my interest?
  • A non-finance college class that was of my interest

Then, I asked him five questions regarding his experience at CBS and any recommendations of things to do before starting in August to fully take advantage of CBS since day one. Sent a thank-you note 4 hours later and he replied telling me to do not hesitate to contact him regarding anything about CBS I wanted to know. Feedback was submitted three days later, and got the acceptance call one week after feedback was submitted.
